Tired of the trying ways to access files of your android phones on a Windows PC? Bored of the cumbersome task of emailing photos from your Android phone to access it on your Windows PC! Microsoft has a got a good news for you.
Microsoft has recently announced Your Phone app that will enable users to synchronize their Android devices and Iphones with Windows 10.
This new feature is available for Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring that is running the latest preview build.
Windows Insider is an open source software development program by Microsoft that allows users possessing valid Windows 10 license to access the pre-release builds of the Operating system. This testing program was initially accessible only to developers and enterprise testers to test the new developer features. This pre- release versions aim at identifying bugs present in the new builds and mitigating them to improve Windows 10 OS before releasing it publicly.
Windows 10 Insider Preview Updates are delivered in different ‘Rings’ or logical categories.
The order of the ring is:
Builds after getting approved by the Microsoft Ring are sent to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring. It receives new builds and hence chances of finding bugs and issues in this ring are higher. After identifying and removing the bugs in this ring, the build is finally made available to public and can be downloaded from Windows Update settings in Windows 10.
Windows 10 Redstone 5 PCs with Build 17723 or newer have accessibility to this new feature of Your Phone app that will enable seamless access to pictures available on your android phones. Provision to send texts will be available in future updates.
The following new features are not quite live yet. Build 17728 and above will support these new features on the server side.
Build 17723+ is highly recommended for the best experience. Your Phone app is compatible to Android 7.0+ versions.
Note: To use this feature you need to install Microsoft Apps for Android.
Your Phone app allows iPhone users to send the web page they surf on phone instantly to their PC and pick up where you left off to continue. This allows them to enjoy the benefits of a bigger screen by enabling them to read, watch and browse on PC.
Note: Web pages opened in Microsoft Edge for iOS browser only can be continued to read on Windows 10 PCs.
Once the respective app is installed, login to the same Microsoft account that is used on windows 10 PCs also. The two devices will be linked. Now you can perform activities on your phone and have them synchronized to your Windows 10 PC.
